    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ihB.2ACI/4302.1.1 Message Board Post: My message was merely an attempt on my part to understand what is really going on and how the system works, nothing in my message was a personal expression of outrage at you for moving "your" own site. You took all of the records from Greene County that you say was 90% due to your own gather- ing and moved to another server. Right? And you said you begged others to contribute but no one wanted to. You admit that the information on the site is public inform-ation and that Usgenweb is an All Volunteer project with no one getting paid. Right? So apparently you volunteered to be the Host for Greene County, Tennessee. Right? And you did all the hard work of gathering information because of having deep personal roots in Greene County. Right? And you say you wanted to do something to help others research. So I ask, how is it helping others who were used to seeing your fine work, to suddenly find it missing??? And many would not know the name of the new place you took the information to. And to confuse me further, you say that the site I originally complained about being changed was the Usgenweb Archives site. I don't believe I was complaining but stating a fact, that the records that used to be on the Greene County page were and are now in the Archives, and my puzzlement over why they were moved. I was unaware of the information you have provided--that you personally dug out most of the information on the Greene County page from public records and got little help from any one else. Nor was I aware that you felt so unappreciated. I am just a curious seeker who wants to know how things work. I recall asking you long ago how things get put into the Archives section of Usgenweb, whether there were certain dates that were required, and you didn't know. As you say, many Hosts don't live in the counties that they 'host;' I knew that. I didn't know that they were all volunteers and I bet a lot of people reading this didn't either. So your information has been most informative. Your statement: "I tried my best for the researchers of Greene County, and this is what I get in return; thanks a bunch." bothers me a lot because there was no personal attack on you and none was intended. But I am still puzzled. If you were a volunteer, and did most of the work on the Greene County page your- self, and wanted to help others reseach, wouldn't it have been kinder to leave the information behind when you left? On behalf of myself and many others, I want to thank you for all the work you did as an unpaid volunteer and I'm sorry you felt so unappreciated. I am a member of the Greene County Genealogical Society and they also do a lot of work for the researchers in Greene County, and I'm sure they also appre- ciate what you did.
