Yes, James middle name has been a topic of discrepancy with me and older family members for some time now. Originally we did have Osbourne as his middle name, but somewhere along the line of our research is got changed to Oscar. More reseach for me. Regardless of middle name I am sure that we are talking about the same James Payne. James O Payne m. Louiza/Louisa Fowler Nov 1845, she was b. in SC, D. 6 Feb 1929 Greeneville TN. James b. 5 Nov 1835 in Mecklenburg, NC, d 6 Jul 1915, Greene County, TN. I believe Louisa's fathers' given name is Franklin. However, I do not have any other info on him or his wife. Children born to James and Louisa are: Julia A., b. Apr 1860 John William, b Apr 1863 Mary Jane, b 1866 Serene (Rennie) Edie, b 1868 Daniel A, b 1871 William Alexander, b 1872 Lonnie, b 8 Jun 1874 and died 13 Dec 1965 Greene TN, buried in Cedar Creek Cemetery. Married to Docie Bell Shelton, they had 8 children one which was named Rose born 1897. Edith Caroline, b 1876 Humphrey M, b 1878 George W (V)?, b 1881 Alex Anderson, b 8 Jun 1882 (This is my grandfather, we called him Papa). His son Fred Douglas is my father. Louise Ethel L, b 1884 Wade, b 1885 James, father was Joseph, born abt 1803, married to Patsey Gardner Todd 6 Aug 1831 in Mecklenburg, NC, they had 2 sons, James O and William L. Patsey was 1st wife of Joseph, he married 2nd wife Martha Collins. Patsey's father William L Todd James brother, William married Serena Nelson in Green TN and later they moved with family to Arkansas, where they both are buried. They had 12 children. Loury, Mauk, Alice C, Henry, Ralph, Carl, Edith and Rose. Some children remained in TN and some went to AR. Sorry I don't have more ancestors to share, but I do have lots of aunts, uncles and cousins to share with you.
