James O. Payne served on BOTH sides during the Civil War as did his brother William who moved to Arkansas. I have tons of Payne info that I would be happy to share. And no, I never did get an answer on the John Payne of the previous postings - Was he a brother because the dates wouldn't make him a father? And how likely is it that Joseph was married twice yet only had the two sons? I say not likely.
