Tennessee was actually N. C. until it became a state. The counties that existed then, that are now part of Tennessee were Washington, Sullivan, Greene, and Davidson. They pretty much covered all of the eastern 1/2 of Tennessee, (or more). Greene Co., NC as it is today, never became Greene Co., TN. You can find this kind of information on www.genweb.org<http://www.genweb.org/> , then click on the state you need.
