Shanks with her parents and siblings. Elizabeth Shanks was born Aug. 6, 1824 in TN; d. July 12, 1900. Buried at Cross Anchor Cemetery near Baileyton, Greene Co. Elizabeth married Jesse Davis, April 15, 1841 in Greene County, TN. Several doors down from Silas Shanks in the 1840 Census of Greene Co is this group: Joseph Shanks 1 Male 20-30 1 Male 50-60 1 Female 15-20 1 Female 40-50 In 1850, Joseph Shanks lived next door to William S. Davis (older brother of my Jesse Davis, and Jesse had lived with him after the death of their father): Joseph Shanks, 60, M, Tenant, b. TN Margarite, 55, F, b. NC Sarah Shanks, 36, F, b. TN Elbert, 9, M, b. TN George, 6, M, b. TN Joseph, 5, M, b. TN Margarite, 4, F Mary E., 1, F, b. TN Does anyone know the relationship, if any, between Joseph and Silas Shanks, or anything about Joseph and family? The Sarah living with them in 1850 appears to be a daughter-in-law - widowed? It may not be relevant, but the names Kelly and Bert appear in several generations of descendants of Elizabeth and Jesse Davis.
