1850 US census, Dist 10, Hawkins Co., TN., M432-882, page 385, dwell/fam 24/24: NOTE: I understand the area of Dist 10 included Rogersville, TN. Reese(?), John M., male, age 43, Saddler, b. TN. -------, Artisles(?), female, age 41, b. TN. -------, Ann, female, age 17, b. TN. -------, Mary, female, age 16, b. TN. -------, James, male, age 10, b. TN. -------, Daniel, male, age 26, carpenter, b. TN. The surname is not very clear in the census record.. I have reason to think this is actually the family of my James Franklin Reeves, b. March 5, 1841 in Russellville, Jefferson, TN. He was a Saddler Sergeant in the 9th TN Cavalry during the civil war and married Elizabeth Caroline Abshire. They came to live in Texas & Oklahoma. Records I have found tend to indicate that James' parents were John Reeves & Artie (Artimesa?) Broyles who were apparently married May 19, 1831 in Greene Co., TN. and who lived in (perhaps Greene) Jefferson & Hawkins Counties. Does anyone recognize this family who can add further info (pro or con) about them?
