I believe, just like you do, that my Frances Rhea is descended from the Snapps & the Rheas of Sullivan County. If not a granddaughter, a great granddaughter. I did do a survey of the Census' 1830 thru 1850 in Sullivan, Washington, Johnson & Greene Co.s & found that the most probable Rhea families are: James & Robert P. of Sullivan Co. in all 3 Census' and Ezekiel, John & Robert of Greene Co. in the 1830 & 1840 Census'. In the 1850 Greene Co. Census there are 2 female heads of households and no male heads of households; Docky & Ruth could be widows of the 3 men in Greene Co. or the families could be new in Greene Co. or the men have moved out of Greene Co. She would have been out of her parent's home in the 1850 Census. She married William Price Pickering in 1849 and shows up as his wife in the 1850 Greene Co. Census. All help appreciated. They were the parents of my great grandmother, Almira Morrow who married my great grandfather, Lewis Henry Boyett. There was an Edna Rhea b. 1805. She married Allen Morrow in Maury, TN. Author: JanFreeman64 Surnames: HARDIN/SHUFORD/ PATTERSON Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tennessee.counties.greene/9671/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am researching the Hardin family of Cleveland Co., NC who migrated to Texas. My first search is documentation of the father of Thomas Columbus Hardin b. 25 Mar 1843 Cleveland Co., NC d. 04 May 1920 Sulphur Springs, Hopkins Co., TX. He married Clara Margaret Shuford and they had 8 children. His mother was listed as Mary Lee Patterson on his death certificate and father Thomas Hardin. This seems to be a common family name and I have found several. Thomas' father is unknown but believe it might be a Benjamin Hardin but am not sure of that. His mother was named Rebecca, but am unsure of her maiden name; possibly Martin. I found Revolutionary War Pension records for a Benjamin Hardin, wife Rebecca that everything fits; dates, places, etc. But, there is no child named Thomas, so has to be a different Benjamin and Rebecca. Any help here would be appreciated. I have been able to document well up to and including Thomas b. 1797 and Mary Lee Patterson. Thanks for any help.
