Moore who md Robert McCamish who are my GGG-Grandparents. I descend thru their daughter Rachel Emeline b.1821 TN who md Allen Dunn. Majority of online data has Mary Moore marrying Robert McCamish in 1812 but I have Widows Pension papers of Robert McCamish and Mary Moore McCamish states she was married to Robert 15 May 1794 and other data on pension matches her birth date as around 1776. Mary Moore McCamish is buried in Old Summour Cemetery in Murray Co. GA. Her tombstone is not far from that of her daughter Elizabeth b.1824 who md Daniel Dunn (brother of my ancestor Allen who md Eliz. sister Rachel). Also nearby is a piece of stone that has only the letters " R.Mc" which is probably her husband Robert McCamish who died in 1858. From census records her ages listed are quite a bit off but her grandson in 1908 in OK states his Grandmother McCamish had died abt 30 years prior [1878] and that she was abt 103 years old when she died [1878-103=1775] which matches tombstone in Summourhour Cemetery. Any information adding to this would be greatly appreciated and will share what I have. Becky in GA Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. She married John Anderson in Greene County, Tennessee on 15 Dec 1848. I've looked in the 1840 Census at all the White's and the only one showing a daughter who would have been Almira's age at the time was Henry White. These files consist of more than 5,000 pages and contain a wealth of information - genealogical information, affidavits from neighbors and relatives, and accounts of battles and skirmishes, life as soldiers, protracted illnesses, escaping East Tennessee to join the Union ranks, and the hostilities endured at home in a region divided in sentiments. Because of the extreme size of these PDF files, I have also posted single-page PDF files for those of you with slower-speed internet connections. I regret to say that I do not have access to any other Civil War Pension files besides the ones posted here. In particular the pension files for James Haney, James H. Haney, Samuel C. Haney, and Isaac Seaton provide accounts of violence endured within the community. More than half of these soldiers resided in the 1st and 22nd Civil Districts of Greene County, south of the Nolichuckey River in the southern and southeastern portions of the county. Sometimes a neighbor was the one who gave the information to the census taker--to save them that extra walk down the road--so don't always think that the census info was given by a primary source! (GREENE) Ricker, born about 1859 Sarah J. Ricker born about 1863" ======================================================= Something is amiss with Samuel's and Catherine's marriage date. You said they were married 5 Aug 1848. In the 1850 Census for Greene Co., TN, two children are listed: George W., age 13 (born about 1837) Caroline, age 7 (born about 1843) Either your marriage date is incorrect, or the ages of the two children were listed incorrectly by the Census Enumerator. OR... George and Caroline were children of Catherine by her first husband, John CUMMINGS, whom she married in 1836, and either Samuel adopted them, or the Census Enumerator just put them down with the surname RICKER. I think George and Caroline were the children of John CUMMINGS. I can't find Samuel in the 1860 Census, but he is listed in the 1870 Census with wife Catherine and children James W., Alexander, Levi G., and Sarah J. If Samuel and Catherine didn't marry until 1848, then the two children listed in the 1850 Census must have been from an unknown first wife, OR from Catherine's first marriage Considering that Samuel was 28 years old when he married Catherine, it is possible that he had been married before to someone else. ======================================================= Samuel H. RICKER, son of Alexander RICKER and Hannah Morgan is buried in the Mount Tabor Methodist Church Cemetery, Camp Creek (near Greeneville), Greene Co., TN. Levi Green RICKER and Eliza Jane DIXON are buried in the Price Cemetery, Camp Creek (near Greeneville), Greene Co., TN. I have no data on where the other members of this family are buried.
