TOLBOT's line. Pioneers and Their Descendants Through Eastern Indiana By: Susan E. Davis <Shasta4737@aol.com> dated: 2006-07-30 My great-grandfather David Brown`s ancestors came to this country from Wales with one of Lord Raleigh`s fleets, and settled on the French Broad River, near Ashville, N.C. We do not know David Brown`s father`s name, nor his wife`s name. His brothers were Joseph, Jacob, Othniel, and Isaac Brown. Isaac married a Miss Frame and moved to Missouri. Some of the Browns lived in Cape Girardeau County, Mo. My great-grandfather`s children were as far as I know, Ann, Thomas and Isabella. Ann married Jacob Sands. Isabella married Nicholas Mace and lived in Putman Co., Indiana. I do not know who Thomas married. David Brown served in the Revolutionary War. 1. [TNGREENE] David Brown 1750?
    2. Jim Brown
    3. Hello List Members, I am hoping someone out there can get me back on track(I'm a newbie) trying to find out information about my ancestors from Greene County, TN. I am trying to expand upon the work my uncle, Clyde M. Brown, started over 20 years ago, by visiting the county courthouse in Greene Co. and looking through census records and land deeds. I have been using his work and Ancestry.com trying to fill in the blanks. Any information or leads on the following people would be great; Joseph Melvin "JM" Brown, b. 22May 1879, in Afton, Greene Co, he married Ida Sutphin 18 Dec 1898 in Greeneville, Greene Co. He is the son of Leana "Jane" Brown, b. 17 May 1847, Mosheim, Greene, no known marriage, she resided in Greene Co. until at least 1900. She is daughter of Woodson F. Brown, b. 1818, Greene Co.d. 1893 Greene Co. and Lucinda Miller b. abt 1814, Green Co. He is son of Thomas Garden Brown, b. 1781, Washington, TN, resided in1850 Div 9 of Greene, Co, d. 1860 in Greene, Co. married Keziah "Kissey" Frazier in Greeneville, Greene Co. 16 mar 1802 He is son of David Brown, b. 1750, Rowan, NC, d. 2 feb 1808, married Elizabeth Roark Here is where I am confused...is this the David Brown, of Germanic decent... son of Johan Jacob Brown(Braun) or someone else? Possibly of English/Irish/Scots decent? Also, any information/stories/etc at all about my g gmother, Leana Jane Brown, would be invaluable as not much is known about her life...but it looks rather sad so far. Thanking you all in advance....this is a great place to meet and exchange info. Jim Brown...from the foothills of El Dorado County, California

That is fantastic! I have not seen Danny in some time. Nettie (Mamaw) passed when I was in high school and my father has since (for whatever reason) seemed to have cut ties with all of them. =( Nettie's family history seems to be meticulously documented and I was able to trace it back to William Shelton and Cloah/Chloe/Cloa Riddle but after that the dates stop matching up. I have Chloe's parents listed as Doc and Rosy (Rosa?) Riddle but their birthdates are 50 years or so after Chloe's. I believe I messaged Danny last night but I was unaware that it was actually him. Hopefully I'll hear back from him soon :) Please keep in touch :) Cara Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
