I'm looking for information on Granville MYERS and children he had with Mattie (Martha FORTNER). In 1880 Granville is in the Greene, TN census with his mother Saleta (? maiden name) Myers. Tennessee State Marriage records show he married Mattie on 26 Feb 1888. That is the last thing I could find for Granville. In 1910 Mattie is remarried and living in Buncombe, NC. She is living with husband Joseph OLER with 3 OLER children and 20 year old Charley MYERS (who is listed as a Boarder). From the census image it looks like Mattie married Joseph around 1897 and that she'd had possibly 8 (can't make out the number) children with 5 still living. I really need to find her in the 1900 census (would have been an OLER with minor MYERS children), but I've had no luck...... In 1920 & 1930 census Mattie was in Hamilton, TN. I'm sure the Charley MYERS living with her in 1910 was her son (my husband's Grandfather), because his obit shows that he was living with his mother (Mrs. J. E. OLER) in East Ridge, TN when he died 16 Dec 1928. Mattie's obit (died 6 Mar 1943) shows a daughter as Mrs. L. H. LUTHER. I believe this to be a MYERS child, possibly Rovirtie MYERS. If anyone has info on this family, I would really appreciate sharing info .

Jerry, Thanks for sending me your notes on David Brown...this appears to be my line...Thomas G. Brown>>Woodson Brown>>Leana Jane Brown. I guess using the Internet is great in many ways...but I think this is where things started to fall apart for me...I was taking data from one David Brown and merging him with another and coming up with this hybrid of sorts. I had my David Brown married to a Roark, Emily Clark and a woman named Lucy? Reading the notes below it looks like this is as far back as we can reasonably go...father immigrating from Whales? Do you have any notes or info further back? Thanks again for the great info. Davis <Shasta4737@aol.com> dated: 2006-07-30 My great-grandfather David Brown`s ancestors came to this country from Wales with one of Lord Raleigh`s fleets, and settled on the French Broad River, near Ashville, N.C. We do not know David Brown`s father`s name, nor his wife`s name. His brothers were Joseph, Jacob, Othniel, and Isaac Brown. Isaac married a Miss Frame and moved to Missouri. Some of the Browns lived in Cape Girardeau County, Mo. My great-grandfather`s children were as far as I know, Ann, Thomas and Isabella. Ann married Jacob Sands. Isabella married Nicholas Mace and lived in Putman Co., Indiana. I do not know who Thomas married. David Brown served in the Revolutionary War.
