Greetings to all: I am new to this list whih appears to be quite active. I am hoping that some one there might have some information or suggestions re/ My long time hunt for my gt.gt. Grandfather ALEXANDER BAIRD and MARY OR SARAH GREEN.and or JOHN BATTE BAIRD ALEXANDERS FATHER I found a court transcrpt that showed he, JOHN BATTE , was in Greene co. in 1793. They both appear in the 1790 census in Abbeville, S. C. and Alexander was just md/ then.I think Mary lived in Greene Co. or Washington Co. Hoping Fred baird ftbaird@juno.com
You also might try some of the neighboring counties. Washington was the parent county of Greene and at one time it was known as Washington Co., NC. I was amazed when I looked at neighboring counties the goodies I located about aunts and uncles of my ancestors. It seems they too had migrated from VA to TN. Good Hunting Patti

Thank you for any assistance that you can provide. Laura
