To the list, Saw this on another genealogy list and thought it worth repeating because sometimes we hope we have made a connection when in fact we have no primary documents to support it. I thought this might interest some folks on this list. The Sulphur Springs United Methodist church was burnt down by a 14 year old arsonist on June 5. This church was founded in the 1820's in North Greene County, the Baileyton/Locust Springs area. There were three other church buildings that were Churches before this particular building. This church being built in 1912. They are accepting donations to rebuild the church. It is my understanding that all was lost in the fire, including an old bible. The boy is also being charged with vandilism in a May 31 incident of the church. Donations can be made to: Helen Shipley 50 Shipley Lane Greeneville, TN. 37745-7488 Make checks payable to: Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church Fund Renaee
