Hello, You mentioned in your e-mail that Abraham White, Jr., married Letetia Hope. I am looking for information about Deborah Hope. Deborah was born ca 1828, died 5 Oct 1864, and married William Fortner, 12 Sep 1848. Any help about Deborah Hope is greatly appreciated. Julian Fortner.

As for their being a lot of daughters, there were 4 daughters - Priscilla, Jane, Suzannah and Margaret. That would agree with the census count. If I have things figured out right and the son James is the one in the 1830 census, then the two younger males in the David Logan household would be Andrew for sure and probably David Jr. as well. The will copy is only $5 and probably an important document for you to have. From what I've read, it's hard to read and understand. It's available from the Tenn State Archives. Doug

I know this post is rambling, but this is really a "stone wall" for me in my research. I am interested in finding out about my grandfather and his brother Robert and Young Mack Paterson/Patterson, who lived with the Brandon families in Greene Co., TN in the 1880 census as "wards". I don't know how they are related but in the 1910 census Samuel Brandon age 60 is living with the Y. M. Patterson family in Civil District 15, Greene Co., TN, pg. 8A, dwelling and family #147. He is listed as a cousin. Next door is living Mary J. Brandon age 66, the widow of Thomas Brandon. Her occupation lists general farming. Young's brother Robert was living with the Thomas Brandon family as a "ward" in 1880 in Greene Co., TN. Young is buried at the Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery. Is there a listing online for this cemetery. The boys are living with their mother Martha Patterson (maiden name unknown) in the 1870 census in Dist. 17, Greene Co., TN. Martha was born about 1840 in Tennessee. Can anyone possibly help me in discovering how the Brandons and the Patterson are related, if in fact they are? Hopefully this will lead to the maiden name of Martha and also who the Patterson was that she married. The family story goes that Martha's husband was killed in the Civil War. I have not been able to prove this. Any help appreciated. Thank you. Phoebe Pantier Bush psbu@aol.com
Freddie, I think some on the list don't understand that there are some of us who would like to know if our ancestors are in the book before we order the book. This is why looks ups are helpful. No one is trying to stop or slow down the sale of the book, just the opposite. James Logan died in Richland County, Wisconsin in 1875. His descendant on the net is named Janice C. White, but my attempt to contact her by e-mail was returned. Also, the 1830 census with 2 sons is consistent with your David being in the household. At that time, but there seems to be a awful lot of daughters there. Doug

Now I see the generation numbers. The way it's laid out is funny. What she is saying that she only knows of two confirmed children for David Logan and Priscilla Woolsey. One is your line, Priscilla Logan, and the other is Andrew Logan, who is the person with email you going to find. I think we definately need to find an 1820 census for this couple. 1810 would be even better for my purposes. I know an 1812 census exists for David Logan, but I can't find an image for it. I can't locate anything for 1820. Here's the count I found in the index for the 1830 census at the Greene County GenWeb site. It looks like there has been an undercount of children. Either that, or their are other family members living there. LOGAN, DAVID, 206 --- 00011001 - 01120001 There was another son, James, who was deceased at the time the will was executed. Here's the count in 1830 on him. LOGAN, JAMES, 225 --- 10001 - 10001

Do they agree with what you have? The birth dates on on the pedigree don't make sense. Why is somebody who got married in 1806 having a son named David in 1844? . My David Logan was born in 1807, which does make sense to me. Another one that doesn't make any sense is Mary Logan born in 1850. David Sr died in 1849. Priscilla Woolsey would have been aged 72 then. Do you really think she'd be having a baby then? I think Nan Curran may have the basic outlines of the family right, but these birth dates are very questionable. I'd love to see the census on this family and anything else that's out there. I can't pull up any census image data on them. If you have a copy of the will, I would like to see that. Maybe there is something in there that we can use to tie this whole thing together.

It was a biography of the McPheron family. I found David Logan mentioned in there twice, in two different generations of McPheron's. First as the David who married Betsey McPheron who was the daughter of James McPheron who immigrated from N. Ireland. James had a son named William who fathered Elizabeth McPheron. Again it mentioned David Logan. I thought it had to be some kind of mistake. I copied the paragraphs from biography below. I can send you the whole biography if you want it. James McPheron, Great-grandfather of Jonathan M., was born in the North of Ireland and was of Scotch descent. He came to the United States prior to the Revolutionary War, accompanied by his wife and three children, James, John and Robert and settled in Green County, Tennessee. Two more children were born after the parents came to this country William and Betsey, the latter of whom became the wife of David Logan. William McPheron married Jane McCamish, and they had the following children: ......Elizabeth, who married David Logan and died in Indiana.....

I will try to find her e mail address for you. I think that the daughter named Jane Logan Stanley moved west as well. One other thing - did you realize that David Logan, Sr. was married twice and his first marriage was in 1803 to Peggy McPherron? She is believed to have died. David married Priscilla Woolsey Cole, widow of _____ Cole in 1806. Doug
