Hello, I think this is the family you are looking for. Ebenezer M. Barkley and Jane Shields, Jane and family are listed in the Greene Co., TN 1850 Census. Ebenezer M. is a son of Daniel Burgess Barkley and Jane Shields. Jane Shields is probably a daughter of David H. Shields. Daniel B. and Jane's children are William, John A., Ebenezer M., Susannah Elizabeth, Sarah Ann, Daniel Burgess, and Amanda Jane. Daniel B. married second Margaret Hannah, and her children are Andrew Hannah, Margaret Lucinda, Jacob Cameron, and Jane. Andrew Hannah moved to McMinn County, and was a Presbyterian minister in Madisonville, TN, and at Crawford and Brooksville, Mississippi. Julian.

They're all connected to the Wests, Rutherfords, Couchs, Pattersons and of course, many others. I have seen Henry Myers mentioned but, believe these Myers migrated from VA....before that I don't know.

You can find all these on a map today and get ageneral idea of the area it covered. Hopefully, someone else can give you the exact boundary lines.

James was the son of John Moyer/Myers and Lucinda Susannah (Lucy) Smith, and John was the son of George Adam Moyer and Mary Koch. George Adam was son of Christopher and Mary Catherine Vogt. Henry Myers and Elizabeth Trobaugh did not have a son named John E. Myers according to (1) their bible record, and (2) the suit of Myers vs. Kerbaugh, a Greene County Chancery Court case which gives an exhaustive list of their heirs as of 1856. I would like to see the proof of another son named John E. Myers as I did not realize he was among their heirs. The other Michael Myers you mentioned are members of the "Gap Creek Myers" family are may be very very distantly related to our original Henry Myers, but they may provide a clue to his origin. The problem is that no one really knows where in Pennsylvania the Gap Creek Myers came from either. Their beginnings are as vague, or maybe more vague, than our Henrys. There are some reports on the internet that our Henry is the son of a Jacob Myers from Montgomery Co., PA, but there is no proof for that assertion whatsoever. Good luck in your searching.

Henry moved to Greene County, Tennessee in 1803 according to tax records and War of 1812 bounty land application of Elizabeth Myers, widow of Henry. John Kerbaugh provided an affidavit that he was present when Henry and Elizabeth were married, and that they moved to Tennessee in about 1803 with two or three small children. After the move to Tennessee, Henry was associated with a John Myers who married Cary Kerbaugh in 1808, and a Frederick Myers who married Mary Kerbaugh in 1810. John Myers died in 1815 leaving daughters Polly Myers and Eliza Myers as his sole heirs. What happened to them? Frederick Myers moved to Harrison County, Indiana where he died in 1856 leaving a large family. The Michael Myers who owned land adjoining Nicholas Trobaugh back in Augusta County, Virginia sold that land to William Hogshead in 1802 and completely disappears from all records that I can find. Where did he go? Any help appreciated. Doug

A reunion is planned for Saturday, August 16th 2003 for the descendants of William Newton PALMER but not restricted to his family. We would love to have those from his brothers and sisters also and all others with ties to the Palmer family. William Newton Palmer (1832-1892) is the grandson of Thomas Palmer, a Revolutionary War soldier. See below for genealogical information on our PALMER line. The reunion will be held in Newport, Cocke County, Tennessee at Newport City Park. Directions as follows: Coming into Newport from any direction you will be aware of the numbered traffic lights. The light #7 is at the intersection of Broadway and Hwy 321. Take 321 North from this intersection. It is often a difficult turn to make as there is no protected turn. Follow 321 across the RR tracks then the river and onto North Street, which is also 321 until you come to Smith Street. Turn left on Smith St. Smith is only a short way from the bridge. You will go past a Fire Hall on the right then a right turn into Newport City Park. Go down the "Y" drive by the left fork. The pavilions are at the back of the park. Number 1 pavilion is reserved for PALMER. Please bring a covered dish to share for lunch. The time is roughly 10AM until 3PM. Bring family photo's, family history, etc. that you'd care to share with other family members. Also, if you have a comfy folding chair, bring it along. Here's a little information that I found on the internet with links if you are interested......since it has been noted that the 1783 tax list for Greene County consisted of mostly Revolutionary soldiers, it's likely that some stayed and purchased land where they lived. According to a fairly short article at this site: http://www.easttennroots.com/volume9contents.htmlNorth North Carolina Land Grants in Tennessee from 1777 thru 1791 (a period of 7 1/2 years), were lands opened up for purchase. Most of the recipriants were already living in the area and the grants had nothing to do with military service. The grant process was; entry, warrant, survey, grant issuance, and recording. Apparently, the settlers could have been from anywhere, not just North Carolina. An article on the Revolutionary War at this site: http://www.segenealogy.com/northcarolina/nc_records/military.htm North Carolina did offer Bounty Land Warrants that could be exchanged for land in Tennessee. This is where (I think), the selling of warrants and lists of assignees comes in. At this site: http://www.tngenweb.org/warren/warland.htm A lot of information about North Carolina's Military District or Military Reservation in north Middle Tennessee.
