I have a Catherine Trobaugh b. 1835 to William Trobaugh and Eve Harmon. This Catherine married Michael Cobble b. 1819 in Greene County Tennessee on May 30, 1854. Is this Catherine a sister to the Mary Ann mentioned? If so, how are her ancestors traced back to Germany Trarbach line? Can anyone help with this? I've never been able to find his parents. He was orphaned (as I believe) early on and was found living with Azra Koonta as a family servant on the 1850 Greene Co. TN census. John was 12 years old in 1850. One researcher has John's father listed as the younger Jacob Stanberry in Greene Co. TN. But I disagree with that. John W. Stanberry was born (according to his Civil War military records) 17 Jun 1837 Washington Co. TN. The older Jacob Stanberry was a better fit as he lived in Washington Co. TN. I've looked at William Stanberry before but have never found any proof of his being John's father. If you have a document, etc., that may prove William to be John's father I would love to have a copy of it. Theresa Ashley - Kingsley

TN being buried in Jefferson Co. Ohio has him confused with another John Welty. His Rev. War pension records are the best indication of when and where he died. His semi-annual pension payments in East TN stopped in late 1838 probably because he died. A letter in 1856 to the War Dept. from his daughter Barbara Hauff nee Welty says he received a pension up to the time of his death. Also the info about Abraham Welty being the father of John Welty of Greene Co. TN is probably wrong because his pension records say he was born in 1743/1744. In the 1880 census records John Welty's three living children all indicated he was born in Germany. If he was indeed born in German then he could not be a son of Abraham Welty who was living in York Co. PA in the 1740s. Since John is such a common name in early America it is easy to confuse him with other people named John Welty. I am searching the church records in Germany and northern Alsace France which was part of Germany at one time to try and find his birth record to clear up some of the confusion. Thanks for your replies and info on John Welty.

How can someone get an obit for the Cedar Creek area of Greene Co., for Nov-, 1916. What was the newspaper for this area in this time period. Did Greenville print for this area. My Nancy (Renner) Wattenbarger is not listed for Cedar Creek Cemetery, or St James where her parents William and Susan Renner, lived and are buried. Is there a Greene Co. obit source. Thanks, Marshall Drury
