I am confused because there is also a John Houston & Elizabeth Kelly getting married in 1824 in Washington Co. I believe the Elizabeth that marries in Greene Co. is the daughter of William Kelly and the Elizabeth who marries in Washington Co. is the daughter of Kinchen Kelly, but I cannot determine who the parents are for the two John Houstons. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

One couple is married in 1822 and the other in 1824 or 26. I have identified the Elizabeth Kelly who was married in Washington Co. as the daughter of Kinchen Kelly (he mentions his daughter Elizabeth and grandson Joseph Houston in his will). The Elizabeth Kelly who marries in Greene Co. appears to be the daughter of William Kelly (he states in his will- my daughter Elizabeth who intermarried with John Houston). But I am still confused as to who the parents are of the two John Houston's.

Her brother was my great grandfather James Mc amis b. may 22 1855 and they had 3 other siblings Rufus, Hanna, and robert b. sept, 1861. their parents were wilson McAmis and Margaret Kidwell. I don't have any children for mollie. I think she and her husband were mentioned in an old deed that I have. If this sounds familiar let me know and I will dig a little deeper. I have found that everyone had 6 or more children and all named them after their brothers and sisters. This really makes things hard.

It appears from this census that he was probably born ca. 1760-1770 and his wife ca. 1770-1780. Were there actually two men born about the same time in the Greene and Washington Co. areas, one named Alexander HALL and another named Alexander HALE?? According to most transcriptions, Alexander HALL m. Susanah McCOLAM (McCOLLUM) in 1793 in Washington Co., TN however the Washington Co. GenWeb page has transcribed this marriage as Alexander HALE. Susannah was the daughter of Thomas McCOLLUM and Mary VENEMAN (VAN EMAN) of Greene Co. I am descended from Thomas' son James McCOLLUM and Rachel JONES and am just beginning/renewing my efforts to more thoroughly document the family of Thomas McCOLLUM.
