Bridgett, I can understand now. I also think rootsweb is getting out of hand, and slower too what with the ads quite likely being on servers that may or may not be up....or slow. Not yet a member of RAOGK, but I do my share = hopefully = with new-found cousins.... Surnames: Rice Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ihB.2ACI/3482.3.1 Message Board Post: I am looking for the family of Daniel Wilson Rice b abt 1831. He married Rachel McCoy in Greene Co Tenn in 1866 and they had two or three children. The reason I say that is because I don't know when he died. I found Rachel by herself in the 1870 census with two children Mary Ann and Flora Belle. Then 1880 she's again by herself as a widow and a third child James Rice b April 1872 appears. Mary Ann Rice married Kennedy Bowman 1884. I don't know who Flora Belle married and James married Eva C. Fowler. This Daniel Wilson Rice is the son of David Wilson Rice who was born 1 Sept 1775 and died 7 Dec 1864 Greene Co. David had 4 wives from what I can find. 1st Polly Paxton who died 27 Nov 1811; 2nd Jane Rowe Doak, the dtr of Rev Samuel Doak who established Washington College in Washington Co and Presbyterian Church in Greeneville, Jane died 1828/1829. 3rd Mary Hannah and I believe this is Daniel Wilson Rice's mother. He also had a brother Andrew Hannah Rice b 30 Mar 1833; 4th wife Isabella Caldwell Brewer. On genforum there are several queries regarding these families and there seems to be a lot of history regarding this family. Are any of these who you are looking for? Carolyn Whitaker

Apparently this is a duplication of a sort of what Bridgett has done, but I agree with Joy that it should be restored to the Greene County page of old.

I neglected to say that when you get to the Archives section of Usgenweb.org, you then have to use the State search engine and go to Greene County and there you will find a list of all the various categories of the data that you used to find on the regular Greene County page, like census data, etc. I don't know who determines what goes into Archives or if there are certain dates. I asked the question but got no answer.

It is all in the Archives. You have to go to Usgenweb.org, then go to the State Search Engine in the Archives and there you will find a list of things and you have to click on each item in the list to find the information that used to be available on the Greene County page. Don't ask me why it was changed. Ask the person who is in charge of the Greene County web site; she made the decision. Like you, I was puzzled at first, until I found what she had done. Happy hunting. Dorothy
