I believe John E.'s father to be the Henry Myers listed in 1830 Green CO. census on same page as William Starnes, but have not found a list of children or name of his wife. John E and Jane are in 1830 census, Morgan Co. Indiana, where John E. died. Jane died in Lyon Co. Kansas. I would appreciate any information you have on this family. Juanita

    1. [TNGREENE] Rebecca Catharine HAYNES O'BARR and William adam DINWIDDIE
    2. Joe Duke
    3. Cross-posting this one, so thansk for looking!! Hello, fellow listers. I have not been on here, for some time, and now have a question, which may provide someone out there with a clue, or perhpas better, bring me a clue!! William Adam DINWIDDIE was born in Greene Co., TN., early in the 1800's, and was among many who followed Stephen F. AUSTIN and his associates to Texas, before the War against Mexico, which the 'Texicans' won, in 1836!! William was a 'transporter' for AUSTIN, and made many wagon trips from and to Texas, escorting immigrants who were persuaded to leave the then-present USA, having been promised good land and safety for their families! On one such trip, one family who travelled with him from Arkansas consisted of the husband, John O'BARR, M.D., and his wife, Rebecca Catharine HAYNES O'BARR and two young children (possibly three)!! In the long run, Dr. O'BARR was deceased, and the widow and Mr. William Adam DINWIDDIE were married, from which union came my mother's father!! If anyone looking at this list knows more of this family, (there is no O'BARR rootsweb list!) please contact me, since they are now in focus, a bit better, for me, and I would appreciate the opportunity to share with someone else, what we (mutually) may know about them!! Thanks for your kind attention!! 1. [TNGREENE] BRANDON DNA PROJECT
    2. K.Brandon
    3. There is a Brandon surname DNA Project underway. This project seeks to determine the connection of all lines of the Brandon family surname. We would like to determine if the Brandons who first settled in PA and spread south to NC and SC and west to TN, KY, AL, OH, IL, and other states and the Brandons who first appear in VA and spread south and west, share a common ancestry. We would like to know the relationship of these early U. S. Brandons to the Brandon families of England and Ireland. We would like to invite all members of the Brandon family worldwide to join our project. If you are interested in participating, please contact one of the following: Phyllis Brandon brandonp@worldnet.att.net or Keith Brandon keithb@sutv.com .

    1. [TNGREENE] THOMAS DNA Project
    2. Bonnie Thomas Chaffin
    3. Hi, I would like to let everyone know that a THOMAS surname DNA project is beginning. There are several groups of Thomases in East Tennessee - Blount, Sevier, Cocke, Sullivan, Jefferson counties - that would love to learn if they are connected. Conventional research has thus far turned up nothing concrete. Of course our project is not solely focused on east Tennessee. We hope to find connections between family lines all over the country and even out of the country if possible. If you know a Thomas male who might like to join, please direct them to me at btchaffin@comcast.net or to http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_det.asp?group=Thomas. Thanks for your help, Bonnie Thomas Chaffin

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ihB.2ACI/4338.1 Message Board Post: Here are a few suggestions: 1. Email Don Miller at the Cox Genealogy Library in Greeneville, TN at dmiller@ggcpl.org to see if he has any vertical files on those names, or any birth certificates or marriage certificates. 2. Go to Usgenweb.org and then on the right side of the page you will see the ARchives section. Use either the National or State Search Engine and just type in the last name and see what you get. 3. Or, go to Usgenweb.org and then to the States side of the page and use the State search engine for the county in the state where you found the census. 4. Join the Greene County Genealogical Society which has publications and information you will find no where else. Ask Don Miller about this. Good luck. Dorothy Reynolds Brenner
