I hadn't meant to imply that the Royal Phillips I mentioned was connected to the Phillips-Register Cemetery - I knew he was buried at Pleasant Vale Cem. in Greene County. I guess I was trying to kill two birds with one stone so to speak. In trying to redirect someone who was listing this cemetery as being in Greene County, I also took the opportunity to inquire as to a possible link between some Phillips' which she had an earlier query on. To add to the confusion, I later posted a query on the Washington County message board re this cemetery as I also have Register kin & am curious about how the two families were related.

The names you mentioned do not ring a bell. I know I had a great grandmother named Martha and a great grandfather named Millard. I have found each of these names on different websites but the ones I have found do not link with my family. My greatgrandmother was blind also. I have hit many brick walls, but I'm keeping up the search, so if you happen to run across any of these names anywhere on your search, please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks, Kathy

I do not have him but have several Williams and several Josephs in my line who came originally from WAshington to Greene Counties. I do not find the name Looney except an Unknown male who married a Greenway and there are Greenways in my line also. I do not find Eleazer either.
I have also seen the spelling of Payne\Paine intertwined within the line. Many times the individual who wrote a document used the phonic spelling. With accents and individuals unable to read and write this is how much confusion occured. I know 2 brother who arrived in the US about 50 years ago from Italy. One brother was very nervous and when asked his name he stated in broken English, La and that is what was added to the family name. I've found Jesse Payne in the 1900 and 1920 census and he listed Tennessee as the state his father was born in and listed he was born in North Carolina. There is some mystery about him and his family. My grandmother never met any of his family and she led us to believe that he was an orphan, with no family living. He died in 1930, my father was only 2 years old, so he never got to ask Jesse Payne about any family and none of the other children knew anything. Mama and I went to Greeneville a few years ago, went to the library and road the roads and looked at cemeteries. Jesse Payne did tell my grandmother that his father, John H. Payne, was a mason and was a master carpenter. We stopped by the Masonic Lodge in Greeneville but no one was there. We thought maybe he would be listed as a mason in the old books. Anyway, if you could help, it would be appreciated. Thank you again, Judy

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ihB.2ACI/4358.1 Message Board Post: I have conflicting information on John Myers the lst, whom I call John Moyer/Myers. I will put it all here so someone can add to, correct, or debunk it. I have John living with his aunt, Elizabeth (Lizzie) M. Headrick who was married to Henry Myers. He was born 10/26/1792 at Horse Creek, Greene Co. TN and died 4/10/1854 in Blount Co. John's father was supposedly another John Moyer/Myers, brother of Lizzie, born 1756 in Germany, came to PA then to TN and died abot 1800 near Sullivan Co. who married Anna Moyer, daughter of Jacob Moyer. This John was the brother of Lizzie who was first married to a Headrick and then to Jacob Moyer--or who was married to Jacob and then to a Headrick, I'm not sure, but he was Lizzie's brother. He died shortly after Lizzie married Henry so she took John, Jr. to live with her. She had a German Bible which still exists and gives John's birth date, I've read. Who this John Moyer/Myers lst was, I do not know. However, there is another story that says that John was the son of Michael Moyer lst b. 9/12/1709 Mecklenberg Co. NC and died in Rowan Co. NC and married Mary (Garrett) Gerhard b. c. 1709 married before 1739. Michael's children were: Jesse B., Christopher II b. 1740, James b. 3/29/1767, Michael 2nd b. bef. 1775, George 1780, Elizabeth b. c. 1702, John lst b. 10/26/1792, Rachel b.c. 1800. This Michael lst was son of Hans Jorg(George) Moyer of Germany b. 1681 d. 1753 and Anna Barbara Landis m. c. 1700 Palatinate, Germany. Hans George' children were: Abraham b. aft. 1700, Christian, Johannes Melchior, John, Veronica, Hans George, Michael lst b. 1709, Christian lst b. 1717, Vincent b. 1721. There do seem to be a lot of gaps between these dates of birth so this may not be accurate but I give it here for your review. Hans George was son of Hans Melchior Moyer and Anna Maria Kupfer and their children were Hans Jorg(George) b. 1681, Hans John, and Hans Unknown b. 1684. Hans Melchior Moyer was son of Rev. Vincent Hans Martin Moyer who married Anna Henn on 5/321/1668. He was born 9//12/1647 in Retschen, O. Switzerland and died 5//23/1693 in Gross, Schsenheim, Wuerttemberg, Germany. His children were Hans Melchior, Hans George b. 1681 and Hans John. Vincent was son of Jacob Moyer b. 5/10/1611 in Retchen, O. Switzerland and married Anna Maria Jupfer and had Hans Melchior and Christopher. Jacob was son of Lorenz (1554-1609) who was son of Melchior b. 1495 Gross, Schsen- heim, Free Imperial City of Ulm, Germany. Now, about John and his wife Jane Dunn. Do you have the dates for them and the names and dates for their children? If not, I do. There was another John Moyer/Myers who came to East TN in 1792 from PA and died before 1836. His children were Peter who married Winnie Willoughby in 1810 and lived in Grainger Co. in 1840, Susanna who married George Manes, Barbary, Elizabeth who married Thomas Smith, Polly who married Stephen Manes, Christopher who married Arpy Manes, and Jacob who married Polly Lindsay. I give you this data in case you can fit it in anywhere. Peter and Winnie's children were Jacob who married Nancy Chambliss, Martin who married Mary Ann Dalton, John Hedrick who married Arminda Carpenter and Henry. Martin's children (b. 8/1/1817 d. 7/25/1883) were William Anderson Myers who married Levina Davidson, John Nelson Myers who married Jincey Dalton, Tandy who married Nancy Livesay, Carter and Milton A. who did not marry, James Luther who married Temperance Livsay and Harriet who married William Perry. There was also a John E. Myers who was b. 3/9/1805 and married Jane Starnes on 6/9/1825. There was a Samuel E. Myers who married Carrie R. Weems and lived in Mosheim, and a Guy who married Daisy and a Mildred who married Fred Unknown. In 1850 John Moyer and Jane Dunn only had 4 children living with them, although they had more, John (Baldy) b. 5/4/1827 age 23, Emelia (Milly) b. 3/28/1829 age 21, Nancy L. b. 2/1/1831 age 20 and Susan b. 2/5/1833 age18. Their other children were Henry b. 8/20/1813, William lst b. 5/14/1817, Daniel b. 2/11/1819, Mary Ann (Polly) b. 10/31/1821, Elizabeth Jane b. 12/26/1823, Rhoda b. 1/11/1875. The family is buried at Myers Cemetery in Townsend, Blount County,TN. Hope this helps. Some of it came from the book, Historic Greene Co. TN and Its People; some from the Pioneer, publication of the Greene Co. Geneological Society. My line is James Moyer/Myers and Malinda Collette who had my grandmother, Lucinda Jane Moyer/Myers who married Alfred Reynolds.

I have seen her listed as daughter of John but all the other Malinda Phillips I have found were born later. Michael Morelock's sister, Elizabeth "Betsy" Morelock, was married to Royal Phillips & I feel he & Malinda were probably related but I haven't been able to make a definite connection. Does any of your information tie into this? Or does anyone have background of Malinda Phillips m. Michael Morelock?
