You might like to see what you might find. There were two different lines of Campbells in Hawkins Co., Tn. HOWEVER, if you o back a couple of more generations, they will tie back into the same line. A number of years ago I posted the two different Campbell lines on the Campbell site. You might like to see if they are still on the postings. My daughter has not yet unpacked my different CAmpbell records. There is also a lot of Campbell family data in the historical section - genealogical section of the Rogerville, Tn. public library. I did some research there several years ago. If you are close enough to visit there, be sure to take plenty of change to use the copier and a couple of lead pencel and lots of paper. I was only able to be there for one after noon. Sure wish I could go back but alas that is not posable. Beth [email protected]

My records pretty much match yours in this posting plus I show another brother James Randolph Payne born 1859. I have also been unable to find Joseph Payne's ancestors.

Is there anyone on this list who is researching Benjamin REDMAN who died about 1826 in Greene Co., TN? I would like to qualify him OR disqualify him as the father of Stephen and Millie REDMAN. Did he leave a Will? Are their estate papers in the courthouse? If you are a descendant of this Benj. REDMAN, I would very much appreciate hearing from you. I'd be happy to share what I have, but I have nothing beyond Stephen and Millie. Gerre Byrd

The Payne family is very large. My grandmother was one of 12 and I know those before her had tons of children. Unfortunately I became fascinated with genealogy a little too late to really talk to my grandmother. She has dementia and keeps getting worse. It's very sad to watch and I hate that I can't get to her mind. What information I do have mostly came from my research, other family members, or what I remember her talking about. I can't get past Joseph Payne either. Brick walls are very frustrating. I have hit some big ones for sure. Most of my family comes from Greeneville, TN so I'm just going to have to make a trip soon. If you have any info on the Paynes, I would be happy to hear. I do know that James O. Payne served in the Civil War as a Union soldier. Other than that , I don't know much about him.

Anyone have any information about Samuel Porter and family. They lived in Cove Creek area from 1820-1840 and interacted with Patrick Cogburn, the Jack's. Recently found mention that Sam Porter was a witness in an arson case. I am looking for any mention from any records such as estates, chain carrier for surveys, witness for deed, bonds for marriage etc. Likewise I am looking for Cogburn records of same. I hope you've made use of the treasure of your grandmother's memory. There are many, many notes in my GEDCOM which were given to me by my mother who passed away 2 years ago at 87. (There are still times when I'll see something about our family and reach for the phone before remembering that my treasure can't answer any more.) I haven't spent too much time on the Payne family lately, the line just seems to go back to Joseph and I've never been able to pass that brick wall. Can you share what information you need.
