Andrew and Margaret later had a daughter, Hattie Louise born in 1889, who is my gg grandmother. I believe Margaret, who was born in TN per this and later censuses, was the daughter of George and Christiana (hence why they named their first born George). I can send it to you. It sounds like this coule be a match. Tevis [email protected] Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. Barbara Kesterson
    3. I am trying to locate Michael{Mike} Ridley in Mosheim, TN. He is cousin to my uncle, Vick Lamb, who passed away recently. Michael is my cousin and I have never met him.The reason for contacting him to see if Vick had kind of Family history, or photos that he is not interested in keeping if he would pass the information on to me. You know there are lots of folks that don't want to keep family history and photos they just throw it in the garbage. If there would be someone that knows him, or could contact him and have him to contacty me, I will appreciate any information. I have done all my family research on the Lambs and Jordans. Michael's mother was Ruth Louise Jordan, who married Willis Ridley. Thank you so much. Barbara

    1. [TNGREENE] Smelcer/Smelser/Smeltzer/Schmelzer/Schmeltzer
    2. Makes not much different the spelling of the name. As with most surnames there are more than one spelling. The orig. Germanic Spelling Schmelzer/Schmeltzer just to name a couple. Just in Greene Co., Smelser/Smelcer depends on the census taker and if he knew how they spelled the name. You have to use all spellings to sort them out. They can be of the same families with different spelling. Sincerely, G. Mounger Message: 1 Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2007 08:46:16 -0700 From: "leneta Ingalls" <[email protected]> Subject: [TNGREENE] Smelcer/Smelser Family To: <[email protected]> Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Someone recently submitted a post on Smelser family from Greene County, TN. Somehow I accidentally erased the message before I read it. My wife's gg grandmother is Susannah Smelcer Guin that married Patrick M. Guin in Sept. 1850. I haven't researched that family so I was very interested in the post. I believe Susannah's father is Joseph Smelser. There seems to be 2 spellings of Smelcer/Smelser and I don't know if they are two different families. I know the spelling of Guin has about 6 different spellings and they are all of the same family. Please get back with me on the Smelsers. 1. [TNGREENE] Joseph VAN PELT and Family
    2. Lance L. Piatt
    3. In Search of Joseph VAN PELT and family. I have a Nancy VAN PELT who was in Green Co, 08 Feb 1809, the daughter of Joseph VAN PELT. Little is known of him. I did have a relationship with the Joseph NEWELL family, for he was executor of his 1816 Will. Some researchers say that his wife was Rachel NEWELL, but in her father's will she is not a VAN PELT and may have been too young to be Nancy's mother. Does anybody have access to tombstone transciptions that include VAN PELT and/or early County marriage records that show who and when Joseph VAN PELT married? Regards, Lance

    2. Bob Thought this might help. George changed the spelling of Smelser to "Smelcer" and thus the remainder of his descendants carry the same. LDS Ancestral File (1LHW-46G) The Smelcer/Cash Family Home Page (FTW) by Bruce and Janet Smelcer, Knoxville, Tn, 1, Descendants of Adam Smelcer Adam Smelcer was born 1760 in York County, PA and died in 1822 in Greene county, TN. He married Mary Kretzinger February 28, 1797 in Rockingham County, Pa. 7 July 1845 Greene County Court Records of the Last Will and Testament of George Smelcer Before reveiwing this file, the siblings of George Smelser was not known.
