I saw that Rebecca Francher/Fancher was born in Prince George's County, Maryland. SO I started looking and there are several James Drains/Dranes and also John Drains/Dranes there. On Family Search.org it actually had a John Drain born about 1750. This is about the same time as John Drain married to Rebecca Francher/Fancher was born. So my thinking is that John Drain, spouse of Rebecca Francher/Fancher is from Maryland, not Virginia. Hopefully I can prove the connection and find sources to document. I'm going to get busy looking. Thanks so much! Jenny :) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. You know how it will give you the green leaf if there are hints to connections. Well, that is what it did for my John Drain born 1749 in Virginia or in Prince Georges County, Maryland where his wife, Rebecca Francher was born in abt 1760. The hint showed another tree with the same birth dates as my John Drain, but gave the spelling as John Drewin. It also listed the same spouse. This is the second time I have seen this. The first time I know was on FamilySearch.org and the spelling was also listed as Druin. So that is where that information came from. You had asked and I had been looking. Well....found it! Maybe you can shed some light on this. I want correct information. Thanks so much! :) Jenny Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I got a lot of stuff from a White researcher who sent me a big booklet. I also go on line to Rootsweb.com and find things. And to other places. You can probably verify much of my data by checking with the Cox Genealogy Library where they have the Greene Co. Marriage book but I forget the exact title and it is out of print. There is a small fee for lookups and I don't recall what it is. I also get the Pioneer bulletins which has copyrighted material and you are not supposed to use it without permission, so I don't know if I did or not. Sorry to be so vague but I started my search with just a few names, not growing up in a family or even knowing I had any relatives, so I just looked every where and anywhere for data. I grew up in Greene Co. TN by the way in the orphanage there. Also, some Andersons married into my Reynolds line. You realize that the data I gave you connecting some Anderson's to others is just speculation and you will get more exacting data from Mr. Fellers, I think his name is, who responded to one of your messages, since he has Anderson's in his line. I think he also volunteers at the Cox library, if I have the right name. You might ask him. Some Hendersons and Drains also married into the Reynolds line, so... Good luck with your search and I am glad to have helped in any way. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have seen one or two early Virginia census references that could possibly reference Drain for Druin, but I believe such references were recorder's error and not family spelling - particularly since future generations are mostly accounted for. In almost all of the documents I have seen over many years, the Druins (etc.) fell clearly into the Druen, Druin, Druien, Drewin and Druine spellings. I would like to know where the Drain family spelling branched off from the Druin family line. Is there a generation or an individual that might help me resolve the doubt I have? Have you ever seen a Green County, Tennessee reference to a Druen, Druin, Drewin or Druine? Many of the Kentucky Druins settled in Green County, Kentucky, but the Tennessee Druin (etc.) connection has escaped me. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He attended another wedding in 1817 and neither of these people bore the name of Anderson. Then on 27 Aug 1818 a John Anderson married Temperance Pratt. Either this John or another one married Ellender Bryan on 14 Nov 1833 as mentioned before. And, John Anderson m. Almira White on 13 Dec 1848 with Alexander R. Anderson attending and Charles Gass, J.P. William Anderson may also have been a J.P. and attended a wedding on 10 Jun 1807 which means he was at least 21 and probably born abt. 1786, so he could be John's father. A William Anderson m. 22 Dec 1812 Ellen Craig. a William also m. Keziah Hurley 1 Aug 1837. In 1841 a William Anderson was listed as an M.G. and was at a wedding on 9 Oct. On 3 Aug 1853 a William Anderson (a free man of color) m. Miranda Burden (also free and of color). Now get this, a William Anderson m. Martha Collett (who is related to me) on 27 Oct 1866. And, a William A. Anderson m. Margaret E. Stephens 24 Jun 1860. Alexander R. Anderson was also a J.P. and an Alexander was attending weddings as early as 9 Sep 1800 so he was probably born 1779 or before and may be Alexander R. Anderson. Or he could be Alexander William who married Mary Kelsay on 5 Jan 1797 with Samuel Kelsay attending. Alexander R. Anderson m. Eliza A. Woods 31 Mar 1846. So...perhaps Alexander R. Anderson was the father or Alexander William Anderson, and had sons John and William. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
