Andrew Dobkins married Joanna (Johana) Woolsey in Greene County, TN in the late 1700s. He had land that bordered on Joanna's parents' land; and when Joanna's father died, that land passed to Andrew and Joanna. I am trying to establish for sure who was the father of Andrew Dobkins. I would appreciate hearing from any Woolseys who are connected to this family. Apparently, out of the several children Andrew & Joanna had, only one girl, Patsy married. She married an Arnold. One son, Thomas married also. Does anyone know who Thomas married and where he ended up? Some of Andrew's relatives moved to Texas and began to intermarry with the Woolsey family, who also went there from Tennessee. I have some information on that branch of the family also. My email is [email protected]; and I would be grateful for any information. Carol Dobkins Keith

Joshua Franklin Davis and his wife Pharaba Jane Davis married in Greene County, Tennessee 21 Sept 1871 and moved to Atchison County, Missouri in 1883. In the 1900 Atchison County census, town of Tarkio, he is listed as J. Franklin Davis, age 50, farmer. His wife is listed as Pharaba, age 47. The children living with them are Sarah, age 20; John, age 19; Rebecca, age 14; Maud, age 10; and Harry, age 8. Cora Married William J. Beckwith and I find her next in 1900 in Wyoming, Jones County, Iowa. William and Cora have been married for 4 years, so I assume they married 1895-6 in Mo, and moved to Iowa by 1897 because their daughter Gladys was born there in July 1897. Several of the Davis family moved to Atchison County, starting with Jesse H., Joshua's oldest brother. He was in records in Atchison County in the mid 1850's, and not listed with his family in 1850, but I can't find him so far in any census at that time. He has an interesting history that I can send you. Hugh L. Davis, John H. Davis, Louisa Davis McCaleb Brown, and Rebecca Jane Davis Campbell all moved to Atchison County, although some of them moved on to other places. John H. Davis, father of Joshua Franklin, was killed during the Civil War. His wife Sarah Esther Humbert Davis died 20 March 1889 in Atchison County at the home of Joshua Franklin Davis and her body was taken back to Tennessee to be buried with her husband. I had originally thought she had died in Greene County and then Joshua's family moved, but I found a newspaper article in Atchison County saying she had died there. My husband is descended from Harry Franklin Davis, Joshua's youngest son. You can email me at [email protected] and we can exchange more information. If anyone on the list has more information about Pharaba Jane Hawkins parents John and Esther Brown Hawkins, I would appreciate hearing from you. I would also like any information about Sarah Esther Humbert's first marriage to William McNeese(or McNees) and their son Philip(or William Phillip). Exceptions were (1) if there was an actual will, the page number is shown even if there was a previous entry for that estate; (2) if a later insertion had been found with a more complete name -- full name istead of initials, etc. -- or a substantially different spelling of what seemed to be the same name; (3) if ten years or more had elapsed since last entry for that name. Guardian proceeding and settlements are found sprinkled throughout many of the original books. While these contain much data of genealogical value, we omitted these references as not within the scope of this particular work." I hope this is helpful to you. I know I have seen all types of probate records like inventories, widow's allotments, etc., while using this reference. Most of the time, though it is a will. I have a Samuel Davis who married Mary Armstrong (1797-1849), who was the daughter of Alexander Armstrong and Margaret McCollum. Children of Mary and Samuel were: Margaret John Susan Alexander Jesse Nancy Jean Martha Elizabeth Ann Alexander lived with his uncle Andrew Armstrong in Bradley Co. in 1850. I believe both he and Jesse moved to Whitfield Co. GA in 1860 along with their Uncle Andrew. I have been unable to find the rest of the family following Mary's death. Another genetic clue stated that there was a Solomon Turner in Carter County, TN who presented with recessive trait of blue eyes (noted from his Civil War military record). A recent conversation with another Turner family member in Greene County revealed that there was a high frequency presentation of blue-eyed Turners in Greene County, a trait that was much noted in the Turner families there. It is my assumption that the migration from York County, SC seeded both Greene County, TN and Carter County, TN with its Turner families. My query is that I would like to be contacted via email concerning individuals who may be research the Turner family lines and to share research that may link the distant past between the York County, SC establishment of the Turn! ers and what their migration was from the European continent. My contact email address is: [email protected] Thank you very much. Sincerely, Robert T. Turner. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I believe that the family of Jesse Davis is kin to Nathan's family cause in 1823 Jesse's will also mentions a daughter named Betsey. Plus I read an old article that said Nathan settled in the 3rd district (whch I believe is Caney Creek) and had Samuel McAmis as a neighbor. In 1830 it appears that one Fields Davis (there are 2 in the 1830 census) lived on Caney Creek (cause his neighbors were McAmis' also.) While the other(younger) Fields Davis lived near Jesse in Newmansville. Any info would be appreciated. Thank You in advance!
