He married Keziah Lane on 3 February 1809 in Greene County, TN. They had four children: Dutton Hood (B-27 Jan 1811), John Hood (B-1 Jan 1812), Margaret "Peggy" Hood (B-1813) and Rebecca Hood (B-1818). Any help would be appreciated, as we have hit a "brick wall" with this John Hood. There were apparently 2-3 men in Greene County, TN at the same time with this name. 2. Is your James Baley connected to the James Baily who served in the American Revolution from Maryland and afterwards came to Surry Co., NC? I have the Revolutionary War record for James. I have a Jacob Rufus Baily born 1832 in Surry Co., NC. I am trying to prove?his lineage. On the 1840 Surry Co. Census is a Henry Baily with?a son the age of Jacob. On 1850? Census of Surry County is Susan Baily, a widow ?with children, one of whom is Jacob Rufus. This 1840 census is the only information for Henry I have found. Later found a Rufus Baily in Greene Co., TN. Is Rufus part of your family? I am afraid that I can't be of much help. I was hoping that you would be. The only things I know for sure is Robert Rogers was not a white man, possibly black, but most likely an Indian/black mix. I do not know anything about Sadie Young. Grandma always told us that she was born in Tennessee, but I don't know what county or town. Grandpa's (Charles Beckham Finn) family was supposed to have been from Kentucky, but again I don't know what county or town. Years ago when doing some research at the library at IU, there was some information that came up with Grandpa's birthdate, but the name was Clarence Vernon (Jack) Finn. Charles was not mentioned. Clarence did have a sister named Mary Elizabeth, which Grandma always said Minnie's sister Mary was named after. As far as I know, there were no papers found in Grandma's things after her death. Thank you again. EM Miller Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I grew up in Ellettsville & Beulah's daughter Minnie was in my grade & high school class & several years while in the Indiana Room at the Bloomington Public Library, Minnie's older sister (Delores?) came in trying to find some family history & as I had a lot more experience in doing genealogy, I told her I would try to help & through the years when I've seen her, have asked if she had found any new info. yet, & last time I seen her at her mother's funeral visitation at the House of Prayer, she had not. She said her mother was very secretive about her past the kids did not know practically anything about her or her husband's backgrounds, so I told Delores that when the kids went through Beulah's papers afterwards, that maybe they would find some info., but I haven't seen Delores since then, so I don't know if they did or not. Do you know? I know when I looked at the early census records, I could not find anything about Beulah's or her husband's families either, as most people are listed in the census records. Looking forward to hearing from you again. Don Matson Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [TNGREENE] KEY, David (1765-1842 Greene, TN)
    2. Bob Goodman
    3. My gg-grandfather Robert McAlpin Goodman was born in Greeneville in 1820.  His parents, Rev. William Goodman and Dorothy McDonald Goodman (previously married to an Allen) probably moved to Greene Co. from NC about 1816-1817. I don't know who they came from, except that there is a family tradition that my gg-grandfather was fond of his "grandmother Key" - it could be that either his paternal or maternal grandmother's maiden name was Key.  Does anyone know of a marriage (or any other connection) between a Key and either a Goodman or a McDonald?
