Well folks maybe I have some answers for you...here is what my cousin ( who worked as a nurse at Cox hospital up until just a few short years ago hope it helps. ) Jackie Good to hear from you--RE:Osteopath Hospital--it first was located on the corner of Sunshine and Kings Street in Spfd. They sold that and did tear it down, but moved to the north side of Springfield. The Springfield Osteopath Hospital functioned there for a number of years and then was bought out by some Doctors and they renamed it Doctor's Hospital and it changed hands a few times, but is under new management by some other doctors by the same name. It is listed in the phone book at 2828 N. National with two phone numbers 417-864-9917 or 417-837-4000. The nursing home sent mother there shortly after the new management was in place last Dec. as that was where her doctor at the time took his patients. I was at the old Osteopath once or twice when I was young, but I don't remember why--probably when my aunt was there with surgery, but I can't remember for sure--my youngest sister was born there in 1945. It was probably torn down in the 50's. Columbia South was a company that came in Spfd and bought the old Community Hospital that was started in the 70's and then Cox South was built just south of that location in the late 80's and when Columbia South got into some financial trouble Cox South bought the whole smear out and now own that section down to Walnut Lawn St. Mother was over at the Walnut Lawn Long Term Care Section while recovering from her hip surgery in 99-2000. I don't know of any reason Columbia or Cox would have had any reason to take the old records from the Osteopath Hospital, but one might start with an inquiry with the medical records at the Doctor's Hospital and see if they could refer you to some place that could reveal that to you or they might still be with that hospital???? I would try the last number first as I think that's the main hospital number--I was surprised to see two totally different numbers, but there's also a clinic there and that's probably why they have two numbers.
