    1. [TNGRAING-L] Enumeration of Non-Head of Household 1850

    3. Hello Listers: In the 1850 census I have found my ancestor who is head of household. In the census books I have, it only lists the names, ages, and place born of the head of house and his spouse, plus the names and ages of children, and visitors, then household and page number. My ancestor is listed as he should be and a woman who I believed was his daughter is listed next to him, as well as her state of birth. Since I thought only spouses were listed this way, I am now wondering if I may have misjudged my theory. Would this be an unusal occurance, or normal practice to place the oldest daughter with her state of birth if there is no mother there, and the daughter is several years older than the next child? Also I am looking for any ladies with the maiden name of Jordan (all spellings) born between 1810-1825 in the east Tennessee areas of Grainger, Hawkins, Hancock, Claiborne. Most of these women would have married between 1825-1850 and most likely remained in the same area. If you have a Jordan woman who fits this description I would like to hear about her. I am trying to determine the females who were located in the Woodford Jordan family for 1820-1850, other than his one known daughter Elizabeth Jordan born c 1831.
