Hello List, I think that every ancestor on my side or my husband's side of the family lived in Grainger County TN at one time. Some of these are people that have not had ties to TN since. It is strange I think. Maybe there is a big part of history that I do not know about re: Grainger County. I would very much appreciate a look up for the Boatman name if anyone has access to a 1880 Census. If there is one! I did not know that they had lived in Grainger. They seem to be in Cass and Morgan Counties IL maybe between 1885 and 1889. I have found a stone that lists some as being from Grainger County TN. William P. Boatman b. 1854 Emma or Emily J. (Don't know maiden name) Boatman b. 1864 I am hoping that they are in the 1880 Census. In the 1910 Census in IL it says that they had been married for 30years and had 11 children, 9 of whom were still living. I do not know Emma/Emily's maiden name.
