Hi, Gail, Some years ago, Sam, a descendant of James C. W. or James K. Roach told me that his father had interviewed his own father and had a tape of that conversation. On tape, Sam's grandfather stated that his dad was James "Cannon" Roach. I had long suspected that whatever the K. stood for was interchangeable with C. So it could be James Cannon or James Kennon/Kannon, I suspect. James C. W. or James K. was born 22 Jan 1829 Grainger Co. TN, d. Feb 1904 Grainger Co. TN, bd. Indian Ridge Cemetery, Blaine, TN. He md. Rachel Dyer 10 Feb 1850 Grainger Co. TN, Samuel Jones, MG, Baptist Church. Rachel was b. 7 April 1831 Grainger Co. TN, d. ca 3 Feb 1910 Grainger Co. TN. Also bd. Indian Ridge Cemetery. According to Sam, she was the daughter of Isaac Dyer and Rachel _____. James' brother, Absalom, was bondsman when he married Rachel Dyer. This Absalom is my line. Figuring out the marriages between various Roaches and Dyers presents quite a challenge. Like the Roaches, the Dyers seem to have named their kiddos the same names over and over and over. I have William Carter Roach as being born ca 1872 Grainger Co. TN, md. Ella Mynatt 1895. Have she was born 1879 and died 1899. He md. 2) Nancy Mondale Hensley, born 1883, died 1921. No other information there. Have William Carter's children as: Mary Florentha Roach Tellice Verona Roach (b. 1904, d. 1939) Nettie Golda (b. 1906, d. 1958, md. Frank Tippins) Marti Maxe Roach (b. 1910, d. 1949, md. Edward Carmack Cook and 2) Leonard Bowlin) James Marion Roach (b. 1911 Knoxville TN, d. 1994, md. Mabel Lloyd, md. 2) Pearl Claybo Ellen Catherine Roach (b. 1912 Grainger Co., d. 1995, md. Charles Bailey) Vonnie Dora Roach (b. 1914, d. 1944 in childbirth, md. Parrott Brabson. They had three children: Doris Jean Brabson, Caroline Jo Brabson, and Wiliam Carter "Bill" Brabson, the latter being the child born when Vonnie died, who survived the ordeal.) Joel Everett Roach (b. 1917, d. 1991, md. Pearl Claybough.) [Is this the same as the Pearl Claybo that James Marion married?] Unless Mary Florentha was the daughter of Ella Mynatt, it does not appear that they had any offspring .......... ? I think he must be the Carter Roach, son of James and Rachel (Dyer) Roach. My question now is what was James' full name? I see him listed as James H., James Kennon and James C. W. My other question is which Rachel Dyer did he marry? There were quite a few of them about that time.
