Gail, According to "Some of the Descendants of John Kidwell 1730-1973" compiled by Priscilla Kidwell in 1973, James Stirling Kidwell is a son of John Kidwell and 2nd wife, Catherine (Wolf) Davis. James S. was born 16 Mar 1825 in Grainger Co., Tennessee. He served in Co C 4th Tennessee Cavalry (Union). James died in Andersonville Prison, Andersonville, Ga, 9 Feb 1865 of scorbutus. This information from "Prisoners who died at Andersonville Prison, Atwater List" The Atwater List was compiled by Private Dorance Atwater, 2nd N.Y. Cavalry, who was a prisoner at Andersonville. This report was first published in 1865. The Kidwell information also states that James married 25 Feb 1849 in Grainger Co to Mary May, (aunt of Nancy Daniel Kidwell), born 24 Dec 1830 in Grainger Co., Tn, living in 1880, in District 1, Grainger Co. Their children were: William W., John Henderson, Wesley Taylor and Samuel. I am interested in any information on Catherine Wolfe Davis, 2nd wife of John Kidwell. Catherine was daughter of Charles Wolfe and wife, Susanna, of Hawkins Co., Tn. Catherine was married before 1813 as she is named as "Catherine Davis" in the will of Charles Wolfe dated 17 May 1813 in Hawkins Co., pro May term 1819. I believe Catherine Davis and 1st husband had a child. Any information on this child and the full name of Catherine's 1st husband would certainly be appreciated.
