Duane: I didn't take it that way but just to let you know that it is happening. That's a bad situation that is going to hurt the rest of us who are searching for documentation about our ancestors. I tend to document everything and there are a number of holes in my family history that I may never be able to find because there are documents which are no longer available to me. Conni, This is only partly true. My understanding is that most of these records were supposed to have been (microfilmed?) or at least transcribed by the WPA and these were sent to TSLA. The records themselves remained at the county level. I long knew when my ggggfather married in Grainger Co. but thanks to Mickey Morris and Debbie (do not remember last name) who used to research the records and even made a set of mg. books, I got a copy of the original to match against the transcript. It was both wonderful and productive to see the original mg. liscense and bond because it clearly showed he was literate and could sign his name. I wish I lived near Grainger Co. as I would gladly volunteer to help.
