Gail in MO > > List: > As some of you know, I am preparing some Mayes information for a gentleman from Missouri. He has provided me a bit of his own work (snail mail) and I see a problem. This list he provided has a set of children for Goodwin/Gooding Mayes and for Dudly Mayes and the children are identical. The Goodwin/Gooding set of children have few dates whereas the list for Dudly has many birth and death dates for the children. At least two of the children from Goodwin/Gooding have the same spouses as two of the children for Dudly. > I need just a list of children's names for Goodwin/Gooding and a list of children's name for Dudly, plus any pertinent spouse information for either man. I need something to help me determine the correct parents. > Thanks for any help. > > > > > > Sheri P. Good Morning List: In the paperwork I have, sent to me from the gentleman in Missouri, I have found this: Liggin Mayes 1767-1840 married Esther Daniel ?-1850. Their daughter Phebe Mayes 1799-1862 married James Greenlee 1800-1857. Their daughter Nancy Greenlee 1820-? married Jesse Gaylon and then Ed Hodge. (no dates known) A search of my database shows that a daughter of Big John Mayes, Phebe Mayes (no dates known) married Edward Hodge on 7/26/1835. Would anyone know if this is the same Ed(ward) Hodge? Since I have no dates, is it possible (in some confused and tangled way) that these two Phebe's are one and the same? This daughter of Big John, her mother was Nancy Mayes, daughter of Henry Mayes, Jr. Sheri Sheri P. No Sheri, The Phebes were not one and the same. Big John Had a daughter named Phebe and Liggen had a daughter named Phebe who married James Greenlee. Phebe Mayes Greenlee is supposed to be buried at West Cemetery, I believe. Chances are if we ever get all the Mayses solved we will find out that everyone had a Phebe named after Henry Mayes of Virginia's wife Phebe. I do not know whether the Edward Hodge(s) are one and the same. I think maybe Ross Cameron knows something of the Galyons. Or perhaps Kenneth knows...
