Tracy, The full marriage bond date: George McCann and Elizabeth Hayes marriage bond dated 21 Aug 1888. I found the abstract of Mary (Whitt) McCann's death certificate. She died after the 1920 census in which she appears with her son-in-law and daughter George Samuel Whitt and Marthy. McCann, Mary, age 92, born Virginia, father Seth Whitt, born VA, mother Sinda Herald, born TN, died 1920, certificate #325. However, the death certificate of her brother Robert Whitt who married Sarah Cameron is abstracted as: Whitt, Robert, age 79, born Grainger Co., father Syath(?) Whitt, born VA, mother Cinda Overland, born VA, died 1922, certificate #80. 1850 Census, Tennessee, Grainger Co., District No. 4, sheet 24B, lines 11-13, dwelling 339 (3 on that page), family 351 (3 on that page): Seth Whitt, 57, m, Virginia Lucindy ", 44, f, " Martha ", 14, f, " Robt. ", 11, m, " Seth Whitt was a head of household in the 1830 and 1840 Halifax Co., Virginia censuses. Perhaps that is where the McCanns were from also. I did not find Andrew McCann in Sistler's 1850 Tennessee Census Index. Nor did I find a marriage record for Andrew McCann and Mary Whitt in Grainger Co.
