TN, died 21 Jan 1861, and bd. New Prospect Cemetery, Grainger Co. TN. My info also is that she was the daughter of Wortham Joice/Joyce and Dinah Daniels. After Mary E. died, Samuel P.M. Betty B. I have the same information that you have on Mary E. Joyce. I have the same two names as her parents- but no dates of birth Etc. One thing that kind of lead me to believe this information is that the second child of Samuel Pleasant Miles & Mary was named Dinah Jane- which I have some pictures of. I have information on Samuel P.M. and on most of his children- 6 by each wife. I know there are at least 3 descendents of Samuel P,M that are on this list. However, the ones I have talked to do not know anymore about her parents than we do. Dear Betty B I do not exactly have Wortham in my research, but I do recognize the name. He bought a potrack, a large kettle, a sheep shears and something else at my ancestor Sherrod Mayes sale. I have been meaning to transcribe this document and send it to Selena for a couple of years..., but I keep getting distracted trying to figure out who the buyers were <grin> There are nemerous connections between the Joices (Joyces) and the Mayes, of course.. I did notice the other night when I was printing off the entries for John and Nancy Mayes's children that Wortham was still listed on the 1850 census and so apparently did not migrate to Trigg County, Kentucky as did some of the other Grainger County Joices (Joyces). I do not know the exact relationships of the various Joyces, but it appears that they are all connected and according to census entries originally came from North Carolina. Anyway (you may already have this information) here is Wortham's household in 1850. He is listed two households from Big John Mayes son-in-law Marcus L. Daniel so I have this information right here. Grainger County, Tennessee, population schedule, page 25A, dwelling 348, family 360. Wortham Joyce 41 farmer born North Carolina Dianna 42 born Tennessee (all of the following born Tennessee) Phillip 12 Lucy 9 Julia F. 6 Susan C. 4 David W. 1 Thomas Bibens ?? 10 There is a Roach household next door, but the Roach is Wm S. (28)and the lady of the house aged 20 is Keziah E. I just pulled up my census CD and I can't find a Samuel Roach on the 1850 census in Grainger County. I also checked all the Mary Roachs of approximately the right age or at least those that appeared on the index (this index is not perfect) and none of the Mary Roachs appear to be your Mary. I am a Descendant of Samuel PM Roach and Mary E. Joyce. They are my Greatgreatgrandparents. My Father's Mother's Mother's parents.......if you can follow that . The info that I have read here is same as mine. I have not researched this info, but gathered it from various individuals and sources. I do have a picture of Samuel PM and a pic of Samuel and his 2nd family with Martha L. I got these from a man in Jackson County, Kentucky...where Samuel is buried (Greenhill Cemetery). This man, George Roach, is a Greatgrandson of Samuel and Martha. He has the original pictures.
