Pellissippi Genealogical & Historical Society{PGHS} anounces the upcoming release and sale of the first two CD-ROM volumes of its "KINGSTON DEMOLITION RANGE PHOTOS BEFORE 1942." The workshop event will be held Saturday, May 24, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. noon at Clinton Senior School Cafeteria, 425 Dragon Drive, Clinton,Tennessee. The photos cover the lost communties and farms that now make up Oak Ridge, K-25, Y-12, X 10 and the newest Spallation Neutron Source. The photographs, taken by Army Corps of Engineers, cover the homeplaces and buildings removed in 1924-43 for the Manhattan Project. The originals are now held by the National Archives and Records Administration in Atlanta and have never before been distributed in this format for the interest of historians and the interested public. In late 2002 with a funding grant fronm BXWT Y-12, LLC, the PGHS began a year-long project to retrieve the photographs, convert them to digital format and reproduce them on CD-ROM.
