Thanks for sending that. I'm looking for an old court record from 1862. It has been microfiled before, but not indexed. I don't have good access to it now. Hopefully, it will be in these records and I can order a copy. -----Original Message----- From: Grace McGinnis [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, April 10, 2003 3:11 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [TNGRAING-L] Grainger County Records and Archives This notice is from December 2002 "Tennessee Ancestors", the publication of the East Tennessee Historical Society. "As announced in the April 2002 issue of "Tennessee Ancestors", volunteers are hard at work in Rutledge to establish a Grainger County Archives to permanently house this early county's historic records. At present, representatives from the Church of the Latter Day Saints of Salt Lake City, Utah, are sorting, cleaning, filing, indexing, and microfilming the records. According to Mary Lynn Gilmore, chairman of the Grainger County Records Commission, they hope to have the archives ready for public access by mid to late summer 2003. Researchers hoping to find the missing piece of the family puzzle should hold letters of inquiry until these tasks are completed and the new archives is open. But as a teaser, Ms. Gilmore says that researchers will be delighted to know that many old records from this important county are being discovered. The opening date and contact information will be announced in a future issue." Grace ==== TNGRAING Mailing List ==== To UNSUBSCRIBE please send your message to [email protected]
