Karen, and List: At least one of the Mayes lines I've read up on came from Amelia Co., VA to or through Grainger, married in Knox Co., TN, then went to Williamson Co., TN to reside for a bit before heading out to Texas. Could it be that in the early 1800's this was merely a route most easily traveled?
