    3. Hi Joan Marie, Tennessee did not begin recording births until 1908. I checked two different publications of Grainger County Marriage which cover the time period before 1870. There are a couple of marriages for grooms named Harbin, but none with a bride named Jane. Although census information is not always correct, in the 1880 Census Jane Harbin is recorded as being single and not married. If this is correct then it would appear that her two children were born out of wedlock. In 1880, there is also a grandson age 1 living with her which I presume would be the child of her 19-year-old single daughter M. E. who was in her household in both 1870 and 1880. Do you know where Samuel Harbin was after this date? Do you have a date and place of death for him? If he died at a time and in a place where death certificates were issued, that might list his parents' names. Ross Cameron >>> [email protected] 06/23/03 11:02PM >>> Have any books been compiled of births or marriages in Grainger County? I am interested in the HARBIN surname, and would particularly like to know who the parents of a Samuel b 1868 were. His mother was Jane _____ and she was living in Bean's Station in 1870-80. Thank you. Joan Marie in Oregon ==== TNGRAING Mailing List ==== To UNSUBSCRIBE please send your message to [email protected]
