THOMAS's son STERLING 1st m. EDWARDS. 2nd SALLIE CARR. SALLIE's mom was a McCUBBINS. from NC i think. STERLING's dau NANCY ANN MAYES. b.1845 in RAY Co.MO. raised in CLAIBORNE Co.TN. as her parents were from there. this is my home county, along with KNOX Co.TN. NANCY m. a JACK MOORE. he is my brickwall. theres no proof they married. about 1880 after 6 kids, JACK left the family. returned some 20 yrs later. an argument started, he left, never heard of again. lost to history. 1 son JAMES HOUSTON said his dad was from TX. but bad blood over the abandoned family. may have blurred memory as to where JACK was from. in my home county are lots of MOOREs. 1 MOORE family seems to have left ROCKINGHAM Co at the same time as SHEROD MAYES family did. this MOORE settled in HANCOCK Co.TN. next to GRAINGER & CLAIBORNE. NOTE: in GRAINGER Co. i have a RICHARD MOORE married to ELIZABETH MAYES. and today i got in touch with 1 of this lines greatgrand son i think. his gramp's was SAMUAL MOORE. i sort of think these may be my lines. in CLAIBORNE was a DAVID MOORE. now this 1 may be even closer. as they lived in SANDLICK at the same time as my great granny NANCY MAYES.
