John McCarty BTW was one of the signatories on the petition who WOULD have been over 21. He was born September 27, 1775. This is from John and Elizabeth Mayes family bible. No one has seen this bible for awhile, but a researcher I know has a copy of the information. Some years ago a fellow researcher and I thought we might teach a begiiner's class (we never got around to it). I thought it would be a good to practice ordering someting through Persi. I never had so I ordered a trancription of the McCarty family Bible in hopes of learning more about the Bible. The article I recived was a transcription of an older familily Bible once owned by James McCarty who was born in 1736. It BTW gives the same birthdate for John McCarty September 27 1775. I turned to my husband and said, "Gee the McCarty's really ran to family bibles! Is this fair??? I have varying and conflicting year dates for the birth of John McCarty's brother-in-law, Benjamin Ivy, my ancestor. (I often meditate on the paucity of my information compared to other researchers. Is this FAIR!! <grin> I am nevertheless reasonably certin that Benjamin Ivy was NOT 21 in 1806.
