    1. 1806 Legislative Petition of the citizens of Grainger and Claiborne Counties to change the road to Kentucky
    2. Gail Roorda
    3. I really haven't had much time to even read the list mail lately much less wite to the list. I still don't have time to write, but I just keep on writing don't I? <grin> Someone was looking for a legislative petition that had appeared in "Ansearchin. I don't think this was the one that the researcher was looking for. However, this petition also appeared in Ansearchin (Fall 1905 page 106.) Tennessee Ancestors is another society that I would love to belong to, but like I said I can't join every society. I think I found this some summers ago when I seemed to have time to do more research and volunteered at the NWMGS in St. Joe. They had various donated copies of Ansearchin and I used to look through them if I "manned" the desk. I will begin with column 1 and then identify the persons who signed the petition if I know anything about them. Column 1 is about the only one whose signers I know anything about. Maybe some of the rest of you can identify some of the other names? Pleasant Duke george willey Thomas Turley John McCartey Moses Hodge Dudley Mayes Henry Ivey James hodges Monoah Dyer Joseph/Dania/Davis Walcem/lum Hodge William Johnston John Ivy John howell Thomas Ivey Jessee hodges Benjamin Ivey Henry Ivey was my forth great grandfather, Phillip, John, Thomas, and Benjamin are his sons. I descend from Benjamin and Jane "Jenny" Mayes d/o of Sherrod and Elizabeth Smith Mayes. <I don't know which of the John Howells this would be <smile> John McCartey was the husband of Sherrod's oldest daughter, Elizabeth, Dudley Mayes was Sherrod and Elizabeth's son. I think Joseph Dania/Davis is probably Joseph Daniel, but I can't say this for a certainty. Moses Hodge was HenryIvey's SIL. I started to say married to Henry's only daughter Delila. I have always thought that this family was a little short on girls. Maybe I should say Henry and Jame Howell Ivy's only KNOWN daughter. Jesse Hodges was anna Daniels husband. Before anyone asks I don't know who Jesse, Welcome or Moses's parentage is. Kenneth is the expert on Hodges on the list. Gail

    1. Aaron, Levi, and Moses Collins and 4th Column of 1806 legislative petition
    2. Sheri Kelly
    3. Good Morning Group: I have been reading the posts on the legislative petitions and the follow-up posts refering to some of the listed petitioners. Having been a victim of Katrina my research time has been cut to the bone and then some so I have been copying many of the posts into my FTM notes on the individuals involved for hopefully later work. I need to ask about Moses Collins, Aaron, and Levi Collins. Does anyone know if they were related? Three men with the same names are listed in the 1830 Grainger Co., TN census and the three listed there are indicated to be indian.
