Dear Fellow Researchers, Herewith the explanation for all the lookups. Listed on the 1850 Grainger County, Tennessee census Civil District 4, page 23 B household 324, family 328 is the household of Mary Boatman aged 60 born North Carolina, included in the houehold is Nancy Long age 36, Emily J. Long 11, James D. Long 8, all born Tennessee and Nancy Ivy aged 79 born Virginaia. (I think this Nancy could be Baxter Ivy's widow (the will of Baxter Ivy (1823) Grainger County loose wills WPA). I have never done too much investigating into Baxter, Vardaman Ivy, Sr. and their parents Elisha and Martha ? Ivy (connection to my Ivys unknown). A researcher on a list I am on pointed out that the Henry County, Viginia Ivys and my Ivys who came from St. Thomas's District Orange County North Carolina appeared to get "very cozy" very quickly when they all moved to Grainger County. This is true, but like I say in all these years I have NOT found any connection except they practically lived in each other's pockets after they moved to Grainger County. They are listed in the same militia companies on the tax lists etc. Anyway I inadvertently mentioned Baxter's will on an Ivey list I was on and found there was some degree of interest in finding out more about Baxter's antecedents and descendents. Why I think Nancy Ivy is Baxter's widow. She is the right age (my determination of Nancy's age would be approximate, of course)..ALSO listed three households away is Pleasant Western wo would have been Nancy's son by her first marriage. Anyway my real question is re the Nancy Long in Mary Boatman's household. She is the right age to be Nancy Wertern Ivy's only daughter, Nancy. Is she??? She MIGHT be connected to Hardy and Rachel Cash Long. So I am hoping either Cinda who is descended from Daurtha (Dorothy) OR the lady on this list who is descended from Reuben, but who is much more of an expert on the different Long branches in Grainger County than I am (Iam not even an "expert on my OWN Longs <smile>) might know something about Nancy. Why I think this Nancy Long MIGHT be connected to Hardy and Rachel's family. The Mary Boatman household is listed on the same page of the census as the Hilliard and Redman Bird households. The household of Jacob Tate Noe and Sarah Long Noe (recently married although I still have not found a date for this marriage; the ONLY record I can find is the marriage of the OTHER Jacob Noe to Sarah Spoon <grin>) is listed on the previous page. Anyway does anybody on the list have any information on either Mary Boatman or this Nancy Long? Gail
