    3. I have searched the Ancestry online database for Margaret and John Green Roach's marriage record. (I tried various clever stategems searching under Peggy or Maggie since these were nick names for Margaret just Green . Eliminating the Mc since there were a lot of Daniels in Grainger County and maybe the transcriber just read Daniel etc. The Early Tennessee marraiges database was compiled by Liahona Research and used various sources. The sources are not indicated but I suspect that the records that we have all fruitlessly searched for for years are NOT in this database. Let me check some Orange County material, but there are gaps in the Orange County records too. The only date I have for my Henry Ivy's marriage to Jane Howell is the date listed in Henry's Revolutionary pension file. As far as I know no other researcher has located the original record either since any material I have seen on Henry lists the pension file as the source. However, we should all stop "grinching" <grin> since for some reason and I don't know why I was looking for a South Carolina marriage. Probably trying to resume researching the Morristown folks who came out here. Searching a southern genealogy is NOT that easy as opposed to a New England genealogy where you have local vital records from the beginning. However, even in the south marriages were recorded very early at least on the County Level. Not in SOUTH CAROLINA!!!apparently, although for some reason I didn't know this. South Carolina didn't start recording marriages until the 20 th century!!
