    3. Dear Richard, Since the location of Fry's School is unknown to me I checked the Weifaring Index to make sure Phillip died in Hamblen County. This index is compiled from the death certificates and in addition to the information online at Tennessee Archives, it includes the name of the parents. Phillip is indeed listed in the index. Phillip "SOAD". His parents are listed as Henry Soad and Rebecca Hollingsworth. In addition to this information an original death certificate would also list cause of death (some of these "causes" are not very specific) and the date of burial probably especially since he was interred under the auspices of a funeral home (Stretzer). The exact date of birth or death is not listed in the Weifaring index just the year date and the age of the decieased and the death certificate number. Exact dates (birth and death) of the deceased (if the "informant" had this information) would be on the original certificate. Although since I have ordered the neat new book it has cut down on my need for original certificates considerably. <grin> Also the first death certificates that list parents begin in 1914 and Stretzer funeral home records go back to about 1900. Records from other funeral homes in the area, the Hamblen courthouses records, daughters of the condederacy information, and extracts from Hamblen County Will books Vol. 1 is also listed. The certificate lists the marital status of the decieased, but usually NOT the spouse/s name. This information is occasionally given in Hamlen and Nearby Deaths. Sometimes the date of the marriage is listed although this is often just a year date.
