Dorothy's 1850 Census Record list her as being born in Kentucky, but that is the only record I have found that does. In 1860 it list Tennessee; 1870 list her as born in TN and Thomas as born in NC; 1880 list Thomas as born TN, and his mother and father in NC, and list Dorothy as born in TN, her father in TN and her mother in KY. Both Hardy Long and Rachel Cash were born in North Carolina. Do you have any other verification of her being born in Kentucky? On the Hardy Long, Jr. listed with wife Martha in the 1850 census. This is Hardy Long, Jr. and Martha Stubblefield who were married in 1840 in Grainger County. He is, and his records indicate, that he is the son of John Long and Rachel (?), not the son of Hardy and Rachel Cash. Hardy Long, Jr. was born Ca 1816-1817 in Tennessee, and this would have been the same year that Hardy Long and Rachel Cash were in Kentucky.
