    1. Re: [TNGRAING-L] Mary Boatman, Nancy Long, Emily Long, Nancy Ivy
    2. To my knowledge and in all my research I have never found an Indian connection with the Reuben Long Family. Reuben was born in Halifax Co, VA, and migrated to then Chatham Co, NC with his father. This was prior to the Rev. War. Reuben served in two missions in the Rev. War from Chatham Co, NC, then moved again with his father to the Broad River Area in SC, where he again served in the Rev. War. After the War he moved back to NC to Lincoln County where he remained until he moved his family to Grainger County, TN around 1815. There were several Longs in Lincoln Co, NC, but to date I have not been able to separate them into family groups. I do know that Reuben had a brother, John, as he testified in his Rev. War Pension Record that he served one tour of duty in his place. He also related that his brother, Henry, was killed in the Rev. War in SC. And, the Widdow Mary Long who was in Grainger County was his sister. That is the only three I have definitely identified. Reuben died between June-July 1847 in Grainger County and was probably buried in the Cobb Cemetery where others from his family were buried. He would have been about 88 when he passed away, as he stated in his pension record that he was born in 1759.
