Thank you Ross and Gail for the help, I did not know exactly how the name Presha was spelled, but in the small section of the Greenlee Genealogy they spelled it Pershia. I will try to find the Greenlee genealogy on line. My question concerned the children of Presha and Nelson Roach and the information included with that information. I have part of page 376 and it is possible I copied it from some computer information that was submitted through this site. I have tried to find the death date of Sarah Jane Roach (their daughter) born 17 July 1871. I know that she died perhaps in the 1890's. Her husband, James Nelson Cameron, remarried soon afterwards...perhaps two times. Thanks again for any information and it is good to be back. By the way, Cousin Ross, have you completed your search for the Cameron Clan? Thanks for all your help. They arrived immigrated from Ireland to Delaware in the mid 1700's. They moved westward and were among the earliest settlers of western Pennsylvania. Also, included is a section on the descendants of John Greenlee of Scotland. A number of his descendants intermarried with those of brothers Michael and John. > > In 1908 Ralph Stebbins Greenlee and his twin brother Robert Lemuel Greenlee, wealthy manufacturers of Chicago, commissioned a genealogy of the Greenlee's. Their massive book covers a number of other Greenlee families besides the ones of our book. Their genealogy has proven to be remarkably accurate. After extensive correspondence and research the material on many of the descendants of Michael and John Greenlee has been brought up to the present time. > > All of the material from earlier research on these families is included. Corrections to the previously published articles are added. In addition, the female lines are followed and extensive biographical material is added. Detailed source references are given, often to primary records. Along with the text are numerous photographs of tombstones. There are indexes of people and places. The book is bound in soft-cover and is printed on acid-free paper. > > at http://www.genealogycentral.net/index_files/Page602.html > > I also noticed how you spelled Miss Galyon's first name. I don't know if you inadvertently inverted the "e" and "r" or if the record you are using inverted the name. As you may remember, my g-g-g-grandparents were Absalom Cameron and Elizabeth "Betsey" Gallion (or Galyon, etc.). I have found among the Gallion or Galyon, etc., family and relatives, that a common girl's name is Precia or Preshia or Presha or Preshey. In the Cameron Bible family record it is spelled Preshey, but I have seen it Precia, Preshia, Presha, etc., for other girls in the family. > > It is probably derived from "precious" and pronounced similarly without the "s" sound at the end, ending in either a short "a" sound or a long "e" sound depending on the spelling. > > Elizabeth (Gallion) Cameron's sister Precia / Presha Galyon married William Gilmore of Grainger Co. Elizabeth and Precia's brother James was the father of Wesley H. Galyon who was the father of Preshia Galyon who married Nelson Roach. > > I have researched the Galyons some but not extensively. I have a partial page from a Greenlee Genealogy, page 376 and I would like to get the rest of the article if possible. I am interested in Pershia Galyon who married Nelson Roach and their children, especially Sarah Jane Roach. > > Thank you very much for your help. > Carolyn > > Wayne and Carolyn May > 875 Raleigh Court. > Marietta, GA 30064-2963 > 770-420-8888 > caroway@joimail.com > > > ==== TNGRAING Mailing List ==== > To UNSUBSCRIBE please send your message to tngraing-l-request@rootsweb.com > > > > > ==== TNGRAING Mailing List ==== > To UNSUBSCRIBE please send your message to tngraing-l-request@rootsweb.com >
