Montague A. Whitt, b. 14 October 1834, Tazewell County, VA; d 20 June 1879; buried in the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Morristown, Hamblen, Tennessee. Also buried in this cemetery is a Thomas P. Whitt, 1865-1871. This info comes from the book, Cemeteries of Hamblen County, Tennessee, Volume III 1966, published by the Hamblen County Genealogical Society. Montague's recprd was also in the book Hamblen County, Tennessee Tombstone Records, WPA Records. WPA read all tombstones in Hamblen County in July 1938. I noted with interest that listed next to him was David N. Sears, Died Aug. 31, 1872, Aged 62 yrs. However, if he had a tombstone in 1938, he was not listed in the Cemetery Book published in 1966. Montague A. Whitt is also listed in the book just published by the Hamblen County Genealogical Society book compiled by Marguerite Williams and the Society on Death Records from Hamblen County, Tennessee and Nearby Areas. It states that the information came from the UDC List (United Daughters of the Confederacy.) This book also list the death of Henry Whitt, b VA; died 1917, 80 years, Death Certificate # 201 and Taylor Whitt, b Grainger County, TN, d. July 1911. 29 years; single; Hamblen Courthouse Records.
