    3. Gail in Missouri, When I got your direct email, I checked and found that the message I sent to the list last Friday was never delivered. Apparently it was too long, but the listserver never informs the sender that it is refusing to forward the message and I just forgot to "watch" for it to be delivered. So I will break it into two parts and hope that they get through this time. ********10/29/99 email, part 1, begins here******** l in Missouri You may be speaking of me, though I am not a descendant nor am I researching this family extensively. However my widower great, great grandfather, James Cameron, of Grainger County, Tennessee, married as his second wife, widow Mrs. Rachel (Grove) Dodson, whom my records show was the daughter of Reuben and Nancy (Mayes) Grove, rather than Groves or Graves. Ross Cameron >>> "Bruce Roorda" <b-roorda@msc.net> 10/29/99 11:04AM >>> Thanks so much Gail. I did have most of the information except Reuben and Jane's ages. Now I remember the discrepency was what I found puzzling although I have found wives who were that much older than their husbands. At the time I could not figure out whether Jane was Reuben's wife or his mother. However, since then I have run across the marriage between Reuben and Jane.... Well this does provide food for thought. As I have said before I am not trying to do Mayeses in America or even in Grainger County (Oh dear!!) Just my line (or lines <grin>). However, eventually you find that in order to solve the "puzzle" you just need to know more about everyone!! One researcher calls part of his web page the Mayes maze <smile> Anyway some of us are discussing some conflicting information...so thanks for all your help!! I would still like to hear from someone who is researching the Reuben Groves (have also seen this as Graves)/Nancy Mayes branch of the family! Gail in Missouri > Reuben Groves age 36 male Farmer Property Value 6,300 Born Tennessee > Jane Groves age 54 female Born Tennessee > Elizabeth Mayse age 12 female Born Tennessee > > Note - Jane age 54. The 54 is sloppy, could be a 34 or 24. > > Have two marriages that are potentials: > > Reubin Grove to Nancy Mayes 19 February 1806 > Reubin Grove Jr. to Jane Mayes 6 December 1843 > > Didn't see Reuben in the 1860 census. > > Gail in Moreno Valley, Ca. > > ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
