I thought that Debbie, and Jean B might find it of interest. Leaves From the Family Tree is based on a series of articles which appeared in a Knoxville newspaper in the 30s. It is an interesting colllection of Eastern Tennessee genealogical information. Included are early tax lists, articles on various surnames, etc, lists of revolutionary was pensioners, etc. I only seem to have the part of the article which concerns Edward and Mary Ann GRAY TATE. When I volunteered at my gen society library last summer, I hoped to get a little bit of my own research done in between waiting on "customers". The day I found the information on the Tates I had been hoping to get a look at the 1850 Grainger County census entries so I could get approximate birth dates for Mary Ann GRAY TATE and Elizabeth GRAY MALLICOAT. (Actually, I just remembered something! Isn't Elizabeth Mallicoat "yours", Jean??? I have been meaning to check something out....) Alas I had to keep the desk, the researchers arrived at once, and I was unable to get back to the readers all day!!I I started thumbing through "Leaves from the family tree and ran across the article on the TATES and inadvertently found what I was looking for, Mary Ann Tate's DOB. However, as I said I just seem to have the information on Mary Ann and Edward Tate and as I remember the article was several pages long. I am hoping to get to St. Joe sometime this week (It has been forever since I have been able to get to the library) and would be glad to check the article again.
