Hi Folks, Just had a question about Lea Springs and Blaine. According to the TVA maps of the area that I have, Lea Springs is on Lea Creek and half way between Blaine and Red House (about 1-2 miles northeast of Blaine). When I was living there and doing my research on the Lincus/Linkous and Housewright families of Grainger County in 1980s, I asked at the Blaine Post Office & Blaine Community Library (and some old timers at the County Courthouse in Rutledge) where was Blaine Crossroads located? I was informed that Blaine was originally called Blaine Crossroads and that the "crossroads" was dropped at the turn of the century. If my maps are in error and what I was told is wrong,,then I would like to clear this up as I had Linkus/Linkous & Housewright family living at "Blaine Crossroads" in the 1870 & 1880 census. I don't mean to question anyone's facts, but just need some clarification on the subject for my family research. I have enjoyed everyone's postings on the Grainger Co. list as of late :-) The list seems we all have "come alive" since we last talked about the "old school records" (haha). When we all "talk" like this,, I come away with new bits and pieces of knowledge on the area and a bit more understanding on my own family. Thanks all, John Linkes :-))
